OSB & TIMBERFRAME

Building a timberframe construction? Need a rigid wall sheething? Put OSB on your shopping list.

BENEFITS

OSB is great for rigid vertical diaphragms like timber frames because of its high quality and high structural racking strength. Put them together and you’ve got a board you can trust to get the JOSB done safely and reliably first time. Plus, the stability it offers during transportation and erection make it a time and potentially a cost saving buy.

We mentioned safety already and we’re doing it again because when you’re working on timber frames health and safety is a big deal. You need to be sure you’re on the right side of the Building Regulations and of the law; that means knowing all your structural panel products are fit for the job. That’s not a problem with OSB.

OSB is manufactured to exacting standards.  EN 300 specifies  requirements for strength and stability  such that OSB can satisfy the loading requirements given in BS 5268 “Structural use of Timber”. OSB is approved by the British Board of Agrément and the Irish Agrément board. Its quality, reliability and safety is recognised by Homebond, Local Authority building inspectors and the NHBC. All OSB comply with the Construction Products Directive (CPD) for structural use. In fact all OSB3 boards are marked ‘CE 2+ structural’ a feature which is independently verified. And that’s not all the JOSB Done OSB producers have achieved  BS EN ISO9001:2000, the internationally recognised quality management system.

In short: Use OSB and you can get on with business knowing you’re using a better, legal, trouble-free and yes, safe product.

Note: The 9mm square OSB3 is the most commonly used board in timber frame manufacturing.
