OSB FOR ROOFING
OSB is the business for structural flat or pitched roof decking, structural insulated panels (SIPS) and also as pitched roof lining for tiles or slates (sarking).
It can more than meet the structural performance required for these applications so it’s spot on for new buildings (private and commercial), renovations and loft conversions.
Benefits
When an appropriate thickness is specified, the extra strength and stiffness that the engineering of the panels generates is enough to hold and spread the load of the design, without you having to worry about excessive deflection to the primary structure. Plus, if the structural design is up to it, the thicker panels are a sure fire fix for areas where you’ve problem with wind uplift.
Do we have creds to back us up?
Yes, an army of them. OSB is a specially structured panel made to meet EN 300 - certified by the Irish Agrément Board (IAB Cert. No. 02/0093) and the British Board of Agrément (BBA Cert. No. 98/3488). OSB 3 is best put to use in humid conditions (as defined in terms of Service Class 2 of ENV 1995-1-1 for load bearing boards) – things like roof-decking and sarking. And there’s more: All UK and Irish OSB products conform with the Construction Products Directive (CPD) for structural use. You can tell just by looking at it - every board of OSB 3 is marked ‘CE 2+ structural’. And, as we don’t do things by halves; OSB has been awarded . EN ISO9001:2000, the internationally recognised quality management system. All of this means you can use OSB for residential or commercial construction, including manufactured and modular home applications.
