OSB IS MADE FROM SMALLER LOGS
USUALLY FROM THE SMALL TREES THAT ARE REMOVED TO ALLOW THE BIGGER TREES IN THE FOREST TO GROW..
This way of collecting wood actually helps the growth and sustainability of the trees, plants and wildlife.
The logs are then cut, the bark removed and chopped into strands about the size of a credit card.
The strands are blended with resin and wax and laid out like mats.
The strands though are not just laid down randomly. They're carefully laid so the surface fibres on each layer face the same direction. This way extra strength is achieved from a cross ply effect.
When the three layers are finally pressed together in different directions and under heat, the result is one perfect board of OSB.
Simple, and very effective.
